Lightroom Camera Profile for Sony SLT-A77
Since I got my Sony SLT-A77 I have been very happy, but in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1 colours for the RAW (Sony ARW) images just seemed a little off. I tried camera calibration profiles created by others but never quite got the colour to look as I saw it in camera. I finally resorted to creating my own camera profile for lightroom and now I am finally happy.
I shoot in RAW only and always use “Standard” as the in-camera setting with no changed saturation, contrast or sharpness as I want to have full control of these in Lightroom. I have thus only created a single camera profile which applies only to the “Standard” profile. If you choose to download and install this profile it will appear under your Lightroom Camera Calibration Profile options as “Sony A77”. If you want to change the profile to the default for all imports into Lightroom (from Sony SLT-A77 ARW), select the profile then hold down the “Alt” key and click “Set Default” at bottom right.

UPDATE (23 Dec 2012): Download newer Sony SLT-A77 Riaan Roux Photography Profile here
To install and use the profile, save the file to a location where you can easily find it.
Copy the profile file “Sony SLT-A77 Standard.dcp” to the following folder (the folder may be hidden):
NOTE: If the folder “Sony SLT-A77” does not exist, create it in the “Camera” folder.
Windows XP:
“C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Sony SLT-A77”
Windows Vista/7:
“C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Sony SLT-A77”
Restart Adobe Lightroom. Profile will only be available for Sony SLT-A77 ARW files and not any other models.
UPDATE (23 Dec 2012): I have created a new profile using a color checker card with some custom adjustments. This newer profile is a little more saturated in color and I have dropped the blues a tad as I feel the Sony A77 produces a little too much blues. The profile is set up a little warmer than the standard, but if you do not like this then drop you WB by 250k on the slider. The saturation on this profile is also a little higher. Give this newer profile a try and let me know what you think by send me an email. thank you to the many people who gave so much positive input on the old profile and I hope you like the new one even more!
